These boots took me hiking the Inca Trail, within the endless sand dunes of White Sands National Monument, to the rolling mountains of the Rockies, and now four days backpacking solo through Torres Del Paine. Although a four day backpacking trip alone may not be a big feat for avid backpackers and nature lovers, but it was such a huge accomplishment for me. I have never backpacked for longer than 2 days, nor am I a huge hiker, nor set up a tent alone, and never in my life have I done all of this, SOLO! I could've done it the "easy" way, sleeping in heated beds at the Refugio's, having three course meals cooked and ready for me after my hike, and having all the comforts of home, but I didn't! Although not easy (far from it) and much slower compared to others, I was able to cook my own food, carry all my belongings, set up/put down my tent, pack up my equipment into my backpack, and hike over 80km all by myself. There were only a few other female backpackers doing the W-Circuit solo (I met only two of them). I am proud of what I've accomplished, for myself and for other females, and feel empowered to continue to push myself and others to do more than what we think we can, pushing past the edge. Take pride in your accomplishments despite what other people will think or judge. You are your biggest critic and if you are happy with your work, be happy!
