This is some real shit.
If you don't accept yourself, the audience you're trying to serve never will either.
I am certain that most people's fear of showing up on video with radical authenticity and spreading their message with guts and heart is that they simply haven't accepted and embraced who they truly are.
This is a struggle for everyone at every age, and you are not alone.
There are aspects about yourself, whether it's the way you look, sound, think, speak or just the things you're "into" that you're profoundly embarrassed about.
You are rejecting yourself.
You're telling yourself that you're an embarrassment, and are refusing to just accept who you truly are.
This sounds like some buttery soft, emotional bullshit, but it's real.
You'll never be able to serve your audience or make an impact on their lives unless you FULLY embrace yourself, warts and all.
This is different than acknowledging that you have flaws you need to work on.
That's self-awareness and personal growth, and it's VITALLY IMPORTANT.
We're not talking about that right now.
We're talking about the stuff that you're embarrassed about simply because you care so damn much about being accepted by others.
This is a classic paradox.
The only way to find that acceptance is to stop being embarrassed about who you are, and fully embrace all of it.
Accept yourself first.
You will never change who you are, even if you try with all your might to pretend to be someone else.
It's futile and exhausting.
Stop trying so damn hard to be "normal", and be YOU.
You're imprisoning and handicapping yourself with fear of rejection, without realizing you're experiencing the worst kind of rejection there is; self-rejection.
That shit will eat you up with regret when you're 70 and the look back on all the things you kept YOURSELF from doing, all because you're afraid some asshole would find it off-putting.
The most liberating feeling you could ever have is to REJECT shame and embarrassment, instead of rejecting YOURSELF.
Free yourself, and go do some amazing shit.
If you don't have haters, you're doing something wrong.
