Don't let anyone dim your sparkle -
I got to spend some amazing one-on-one time with my #teen yesterday. Sitting in @Starbucks , being generally goofy together, she spots a homeless person in the median. Again, the question, "Mom, do you have any cash?" I didn't but it was hard to ignore that we were enjoying our frou-frou drinks and cakes, inside, in the warmth, watching this guy. What would you do in that teachable moment? As a parent you have all of these seemingly small decisions to make that help to form who your children become. I had the choice to ignore this man or show him #kindness - and thus teach my #daughter how to treat others.
"I wonder if he'd like something warm to drink?" Her eyes lit up, catching on immediately to my plan. "I'll ask him." She was ready with her guess as to what he'd like when I stepped back inside. We cleaned up our spot, ordered his lunch and as we left, wished him well. A seemingly small gesture that reinforced for my mini that #compassion is one of the greatest qualities a person can have. She shines so bright
So here's my #challenge . It will cost you nothing but make a huge difference for someone else. You know you have at least one app on your phone that earns you #free food or drinks... my challenge is that once you've earned that item, give it away. Get the item and put it the hands of someone who could use a warm drink or meal. Show a stranger a little love ️ #makingmemories #actsofkindness #teachthemwell #teachablemoments #shinebright #momanddaughter #makingchanges #kindnessisfree
